This video depicts a directed search with gun fire as well as less lethal deployment on decoy. Canine neutral in gunfire – and in control- the exercise ends with live gunfire while deploying and recalling canine off bite – with forward downs.

TK9 CONDUCTS E-COLLAR / PROBLEM SOLVING WORKSHOP FOR THE DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENTS K9 UNIT – AUGUST 2ND THRU AUGUST 6TH, 2021

TK9 was conducted late last year about one of our 5-day E-Collar Workshops – unfortunately the process for this training took some time to complete. Much thanks goes out to Officer Susan Millard and the Units lead Supervisor – Sergeant Wolverton. The class was very well received – it always helps when the Unit is squared away, which was the case here. We advanced all the teams nicely because of this. We are currently in discussions to put on an advanced course early spring of 2022. Looking forward to this happening.

TK9 CONDUCTS MAINTENANCE TRAINING FOR THE RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENTS K9 UNIT – AUGUST 21ST THRU 23RD, 2021

Our every other month training continued this week for the Richmond K9 Unit. It would not be a training day if we did not get interrupted at least once to respond to a K9 call for service (and we did). This training module hit all basic requirements and foundation work – we also focused this week on some opposition work in muzzle. These canines are pretty hard in muzzle – so be careful – make sure the canine is hard and tough in the muzzle. Purpose is simple – put opposition and pressure as well as obstacles in front of the canine to work through. Great week of training.

TK9 CONDUCTS E-COLLAR WORKSHOP HOSTED BY THE HARRIS COUNTY K9 UNIT – OCTOBER 3RD THRU OCTOBER 7TH, 2021

Harris County Texas K9 Unit – with the assistance of Sergeant Chris Moore – the units Chief Trainer made this workshop possible. Chris has been a good friend over the years and has tagged along numerous workshops over the years. Because of this hard earned experience he was able to assist in the class instruction. This almost eliminated down time for the K9 teams. Needless to say we had all the teams hopping. Surrounding agencies also attended – thanks much to Chris Moore.

TK9 CONDUCTS MAINTENANCE TRAINING FOR THE RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENTS K9 UNIT – OCTOBER 17TH THRU OCTOBER 19TH, 2021

TK9 conducted maintenance training with Richmond K9 – as always we started off reviewing K9 apprehensions of the preceding month. Afterwards we covered all foundation work – we also focused some of the training on high finds. This basic training is often overlooked and frankly much needed. This video shows some of the maintenance work required. This is finished product. The canine works the scent cone and eventually frustrates into a bark alert at source. Its important that the canine self discovers durirng this process – no “good boys” or “what cha got”. These are common mistakes that lead to false alerts and not pinpointing scent source. We sometimes pay with a prey reward but it is important to final the scenario with canine looking up at “civil” decoy – no equipment. Another great workshop.

TK9 CONDUCTS E-COLLAR / PROBLEM SOLVING WORKSHOP HOSTED BY THE HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENTS K9 UNIT – NOVEMBER 3RD THRU 7TH, 2021

Tactical K9 has had a long standing relationship with our friends in Houston. Sergeant Jeff Bickle and Sergeant Stewart “Red” have long been supporters of our company and our training. We were glad to partake in another workshop with this fine Department. Houston K9 Unit had recently taken on a new K9 OIC. I met this fine gentlemen at our last workshop with Harris County K9 Unit. What a pleasure it was – he attended the workshop to see what the training was all about. After some great interaction he was sold on the training and here we are now. Much thanks goes out to Lieutenant AJ Vanderbul for listening to his Supervisors as well as his forward thinking to move the unit in the right direction. Off lead control and verbal outs during apprehensions is becoming more and more crucial during these turbulent times – politically speaking. There were a few other agencies that also attended – a great 5 day workshop. TK9 once again is thankful to Houston K9 Units support.
